Don Vinson Foster Family Picnic

The day dawned bright and clear for the second annual foster family picnic – now the Don Vinson Memorial Foster Family Picnic. This event benefits foster families associated with The Baby Fold, Children's Foundation, and Catholic Charities.

Thanks to Tricia Manard and the Boys and Girls Committee for another outstanding job. Thanks also to Becky Hines for the use of the YWCA grounds and pool.

Games, food, fun. All were enjoyed by the families and the Kiwanis members who helped. Those included: Bob Denny, Roland Deterding, Don Bernardi, Fran Strebing, Bernie Anderson, Dale Traxler, Mike Laffey, John Kirk, Frank Hoffman, Diana Hauman, Becky Hines, Marta Eynatten, Gladys Carmack, Frank Marko, Jane Moore, John Eckley (and his grill) -- and Reggie Redbird!!

Special thanks to State Farm, Kathy Swan and Manor Care, ISU Athletics, McDonalds, and Kurt Podezwa and Easter Seals/UCP. Total number served was about 120. Wonder if the eggs will make the grass grow at the Y?!?
